Anime Summer 2026 First episode review: After my praise for having a simulcast page up early, I've noticed that it keeps dropping shows, for up to a week. I was doing these sorts of websites 30 years ago. It wasn't that hard.
  • Heroine? Saint? No, I'm an All-Works Maid (And Proud of It)!: "You can't see the girl bits at all" is a great response to a magical maid transformation going on in front of you. There is some sort of fox creature in the credits. Otherwise meh.
  • From Overshadowed to Overpowered: Second Reincarnation of a Talentless Sage: skipped for the title
  • * The Cat and the Dragon: Alternating cute and horror.
  • The Oblivious Saint Can’t Contain Her Power: skipped for the title, though the description didn't seem that bad.
  • THE VILLAGER OF LEVEL 999: skipped mostly because of the hoodie the villager is wearing.
  • * Dara-san of Reiwa: Olgaf!, the one about the guards and the snake. Casual nudity points.
  • - KAIJU GIRL CARAMELISE: Girlzilla. It took the kaiju part seriously, so I liked that.
  • - Crowned in a hundred days: Nice concept and there's humor in the writing, but suddenly brutal violence (again, the ratings system is garbage.) and the OP is *incredibly* loud.
  • I Became a Legend after My 10 Year-Long Last Stand: Has a dog-girl, eventually, but generic no-drama power fantasy.
  • The Frontier Lord Begins with Zero Subjects: Imperialist white guy commits environmental atrocity, but then video game logic makes it all better. Have to admit, the spoiler in the ED is very cute.
  • - BLACK TORCH: Cat used the rebirth spell on his hole.
  • * Draw This, Then Die: I wish I had a robot tanuki to tell me what to do, even if I was crazy. Also I could have sworn Abroad in Japan had been to that island, but Izu Oshima is the closest, and Chris went to the furthest remote island that is still part of Tokyo.
  • Please Excuse My Younger Brothers: harem not related by blood
  • Recommendation from Iwamoto Senpai: Not terrible, but no mystery or drama. I don't know what it has other than being super gay.
  • - Rich Girl Caretaker: Not as good as Hayate the Combat Butler, but not terrible.
  • - NANOHA EXCEEDS: No Arf. Fail! None of this makes any sense in what I remember of the Lyrical Nanoverse, except for a willingness, no, eagerness to be violent to poorly dressed children. I assume this is one of those things that could only get made by being attached to existing IP. I liked it more than the later Lyrical shows, though. Do new things!
  • - Jaadugar: haram, but interesting.
  • GROW UP SHOW: Girl's circus club
  • The Ogre's Bride: Cinderella, then PUA level romance. It is nice the fox demons are highly thought of.
  • The World’s Strongest Rearguard: skipped, title
  • + Goodbye, Lara: First epi is setup. And as we all know from Zetsubou Sensei, Lake Biwa does connect to the sea.
  • Let’s go KAIKIGUMI: its got jokes, but also a lot of shouting.
  • The Insipid Prince's Furtive Grab for the Throne: generic and uninspired. What if Batman, but not any of that.
  • The Duke's Son Claims He Won't Love Me, But Showers Me with Adoration: boring. The show shrugs off anything that might possibly be drama.
  • A Livid Lady's Guide to Getting Even: How I Crushed My Homeland with My Mighty Grimoires: power fantasy, would have been good if it lived up to its title but it is still very polite and conflict adverse. The cover art has a cat girl.
  • - Oh Boy, Was I Wrong About Her: would be more interesting to me if it was more about her 'camouflage', and why she'd need it, and maybe what that says about society has chosen to throw away.
  • * Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games: hey, look, a show about exactly that.
  • * I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day: Kinomoto Sakura in the darkest timeline
  • + Red River: Absolutely bonkers premise. Technically not isekai, even.
  • - Victoria of Many Faces: Slow, but cute. Anya, but serious.
  • Tomb Raider King: Description smelled like Solo Leveling. Is literally Solo Leveling, but worse.
  • Iron Wok Jan!: Aren't all woks iron? And the end bit? Zetsubou Sensei teaches you can't make an offensive anime just because the source material is offensive. Make it because you want it, or don't.
  • - MEBIUS DUST: Despite Sci Fi Weirdness being my thing, kind of irritating, and in no way lives up to its description. I am curious as to why one of the people is a shiba inu. This is never addressed at all. He's just there.
  • - Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You: That seemed like the first 2 mini-sodes, so 7-12 are new content?
  • - Hanaori-san Still Wants to Fight in the Next Life: 4-koma, exhausting pace.
  • The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System: Skipped, title
  • - Though I Am an Inept Villainess: basic writing. I miss Mao Mao.
Returning shows had the most hype, but I like a bunch of these, maybe too many. #anime
After the update, I tried logging in again, both still failed, but the connection doctor showed them as logged in, so I checked the mail, got messages from accounts shown as offline. Whatever, dude, at least I can get email in Mail. #mac #complaining
In addition to still not having email, a closed Safari window occupied 100% cpu, while Messages (hidden) ran at another 20%. The Air wasn't even hot, which suggests maybe the cpu percent thing counts blocked processes. (UpdateBrainService hit 90°C on 80-250%, so it can heat up when really running.) Just downloading the next beta os upgrade in the hope that it fixes Mail is occupying 30-40% of the total CPU. #mac #complaining
All my email stopped working in Apple Mail. I guess I'm just not going to have email for a while, or use the web, or another less flakey client. #mac #complaining
Did some missions with my old buddy, Corpus Researcher Latrox Une. #warframe
All my email stopped working in Apple Mail. AOL wouldn't log in until I validated my phone numbers, by sending a text message to the land line, and gmail just failed, twice, then worked on its own when I checked the aol account. I got that working by logging in on the web and removing the land line. #mac #complaining

https://www.pv-magazine.com/2026/07/03/new-jersey-legislature-unanimously-passes-plug-in-solar-bill/ New Jersey legislators also included in the bill provisions related to a tenant’s use of plug-in solar, disallowing landlords, HOAs, and condominium associations from prohibiting use of the devices.
However, the law does allow these groups to place “reasonable restrictions concerning the size, placement, or manner of placement” of a device “on the exterior of a unit owner’s or tenant’s premises,” and requires users to provide written notice and safety documentation for their device to the landlord or HOA at least 14 days before installing the device. #solar #reminder
The Derevolutions 'Everybody is famous except me': I didn't like it as much as 'Reinvent the wheel', but I really, really love that, so I still like the new one a lot. #music
Silo 3.1: Still unwatchably dark. It's dark in here. I've fiddled with every screen setting, and with brightness on max, I can barely make out characters in the middle of the screen. Even the subtitles and AppleTV logo aren't white. #tv
I saw a fox in an industrial parking lot. She saw me first, took off very fast out of the lot then up an abandoned road. But then just stayed there, in the classic over the shoulder fox pose, then sat. I did not have the camera because it looked like rain, which is most unfortunate. I could not have captured the run, but she sat there for several minutes as I slowly backed away. The fox ran right by a turtle. Didn't get to photograph that, either. #fox
Messages isn't even running and contactsd is consuming 169% of the cpu. It's not slowing down the video I'm watching, but the Air is getting noticeably hot and there's a heat wave, so it's hot to begin with. #mac
Fox Communism: I've noticed, watching various Youtube foxes, that they generally don't eat their own caches. Instead another fox does, often within hours, or for Foжy the All-Devouring, immediately. If there is an abundant source of food, they spread it around for Mangey Donald or other less brave foxes in need. Even at a den, the kits will play with food defending it vigorously, then leave it around. #fox
Anime Review Spring 2026: There were a couple new things that I happened to catch, like a Lord of Mysteries special and apparently an entire season and 2 movies of Thunderbolt Fantasy. CR is really bad at promoting new content, or at least the stuff it isn't shoving down your throat with the full page face hugger ads. For example, I found the movie filter on /new. Does show you all the new movies? No, it does not. Not every movie is tagged as a movie. Not everything that counts as new is new to the catalog of English subs. On the plus side, they started a simulcast page for the summer season early this time.
  • Classroom of the Elite: dropped it
  • Re:ZERO: considered dropping it, skipped through it, probably won't watch again.
  • Iruma-kun: the play bit was deadly dull, and went on forever, then it seems to be returning to the same high stakes as before, but I stopped caring. May watch, but it felt stretched very thin.
  • Reborn as a Vending Machine: also stretched, but ends. They put some effort into the wacky concept, at least.
  • Release that Witch: decent. The witches seem secondary to showing up random nobles.
  • DoroHeDoro 2: Contains substantially less Caiman. Not sure how I feel about that. Otherwise, more of the same.
  • GHOST CONCERT: missing Songs: Loads of ideas, stuffed into a blender.
  • Witch Hat Atelier: mostly wanted to slap that one girl, but certainly nice looking, and I like that magic is a basic scripting system and any idiot can do it. I have not read the manga, but that dude definitely has something inked on his eyeball.
  • LIAR GAME: the problem with making a show about the "best worst manga" is it is still dumb.
  • The Klutzy Class Monitor and the Girl with the Short Skirt: adequate.
  • MARRAIGETOXIN: I liked it. Doesn't really have a point, but crazy stuff happens. I liked the orca assassin, just sitting around the meeting.
  • Eren the Southpaw: stuff happens, but like meetings and smoking and shit. The too serious tone of everything else makes Eren a lunatic.
  • Even a Replica Can Fall in Love: not what I expected, which helped.
  • My Ribdiculous Reincarnation: wacky, and the animators got to do some things.
  • The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King: derivative fan service (cat ears?), but I like Cersei
  • SNOWBALL EARTH: Didn't like it. Crazy people too crazy, everybody else not normal either.
  • The Classroom of a Black Cat and a Witch: mildly pervy classroom power of friendship.
  • KILL BLUE: meh. The ramen shop was the nicest bit, in that it actually had characters.
  • Kusunoki's Garden of Gods: no drama tour of various Kami, snacks. Has a fox messenger and a fox god.
  • NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE: I dismiss a lot of things as idol nonsense, designed to promote 'idol culture' even though it is horribly exploitative. This is approaching that, but stops at the people involved are crazy, not also that there is a management layer exploiting the crazy people. Animation makes it fun to look at, at least. It did bug me that the English text on screen did not match the subtitle.
  • Scum of the Brave: noir content still at odds with the character styles ("Talk before he gets here, or you are going to wish you were dead", cut to dude who is literally 😀 ), but nice enough.
  • Daemons of the Shadow Realm: good stuff
#anime
I saw another fox at PAL field, but I don't think it was a PAL field fox. I was exiting, when I noticed her coming up the border, and stopped for me. I immediately exited the park, but stopped and turn to watch her cross the park to the woods where the den used to be, but she also exited the park, went back in to the soccer field, then turned around and went through a house's woods next to the soccer field, on the outside of the fence. She walked right in front of me, carrying something in her mouth for the kits. I guess I didn't bother her if I wasn't in her way. With the increased number of cats around, I assumed there couldn't be any foxes. #fox
Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid: A lonely dragon wants to be loved: dergs #anime
Zombie Land Saga: Yumeginga Paradise: Surprisingly SciFi. If you cared nothing about Franchouchou, it's worth watching just for the aliens. #anime
Me & Roboco: The Movie: the 60 minute 3 minute gag anime. #anime
Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You (mini episodes): so much smoking, and it blows off health concerns, and the salaryman is a sap, but I liked 'Tayama'. There's a full series coming, but I'm not sure what I else I need. #anime #data:2026-06-18
New Mac weirdness: as much as Messages was devouring CPU, now contactsd is using 25% more than that. Followed up by sysmond, but that might be a beta thing. #mac

I just noticed the create date for download temp files with Safari is the Mac's introduction date. It only lasts while the file is downloading, so it's not obvious. That's nice. I would like to complain that 'touch' (or Perl) can not edit the create date, which is somewhat irritating when I'm trying to sort things but sometimes Unsounded pages release in sets and they get timestamped backwards during the compression process. I'm sure there's something, but I haven't seen it. Related news: having some of the corners line up doesn't excuse what Liquid Glass did to the UI. Still not planning on upgrading unless that slider goes to 100% opaque, and doesn't waste my Air's gpu compositing one solid layer and 8 layers of glass. This machine probably won't be supported after 2 years, anyway. Also, I started trying to write something nice about MacOS, and ended up complaining about Liquid Glass. #mac
From https://github.com/jurplel/InstantSpaceSwitcher "to create a synthetic trackpad gesture with an artificially high velocity. This effectively skips the animation." That is maddening. That's what's wrong with the favicon to close x animation, too. The animation speed changes with the cursor speed, so it's never the same. I like the animation-free switching, but I don't know if I want to remap the mouse to use another app instead. Plus, I've largely stopped using Spaces because of the animation lag and Mission Control's UI lag. See also GridLion. #mac
Star City: Doesn't do the alt-history thing, skipping over the time point where it would have changed. (Did FAM cover that? Don't remember.) I can't help but think all the money spent depicting Soviet brutality could have been better spent fighting Russian brutality. #tv
For All Mankind 5: Gotten away from the alt-history or science. #tv
BBEdit updated and put itself in squircle jail. However, it has an option to use the classic or even Text Wrangler icon. #mac
Stargate Origins: Hallowed be the Ori, wait, not that one. Cheap, even by Canadian TV standards, and I did not like the ending. Note to self: there are 2 movies I haven't seen. #tv
Good Boy: good boy #tv
Predator Killer of Killers: nice enough, though runs into the Klingon problem. If they are all battle-mad and live in a dump, who is building their spaceships? #tv
The Predator: Has some moments, notably inferior to Badlands when viewed directly after, but not terrible on its own. The writing was not great, but stuff happened. #tv
Predator Badlands: Some solid predation #tv
Bob's Burgers 16: keeping on #tv
Swapped: Dreamworks Hoppers, though admittedly, if I watched them in the other order, I'd say the same thing about Hoppers. #tv
Hoppers: cute #tv
Zombieland Double Tap: Amiable #tv
The Dead Don't Die: could have done without the meta-textual bits, but amiable. #tv
28 Years Later, 28 Years Later Bone Temple: Very good. For an American, it is vitally important to know who Sir Jimmy Savile is, or Bone Temple (pilots) won't make as much sense. (Try Behind the Bastards) I can also relate to having a minor social interaction haunt you forever. (I've had great success at draining the emotional content from memories, but my brain just picks something else to pester me with. Working directly on the need to pester me is perhaps the stronger move.) #tv
The Boys 4: Weirdly the gore is background noise now and I'm interested in the characters. Fun cameos. Satisfying finale. Poor Kevin, which is not something I'd thought I'd say. #tv
Running Man (the new one): guh #dnf #tv
Fallout 2: more of the same, which is good. #tv
Good Omens 3: Didn't seem particularly squished, at least. #tv
Invincible 4: Aside from the sidequest in Hell, solid comic-booking. Reportedly, this is only halfway through the comic book run. #tv
I was looking at why the Air was getting hot (Messages), but I noticed that there are tons of new daemons, many of which are also running constantly. I probably shouldn't complain because I'm not running the latest OS, so technically this is a beta version (Not that it identifies as such). Like why do runningboardd and airportd have an hour of runtime? More than Finder, a thing I actually use. I thought I killed mediaanalysisd, and what is AmbiantDisplayAgent and set of related d doing with all that compute? There's between 15 and 20 things running at all times, for me to type into BBEdit (which used less time than loginwindow or logd). Absolute Gas Town. #mac #complaining
@OrevaZSN Someone said "Baby Boomers did that thing where you leave a single square of toilet paper on the roll and pretend it's not your turn to change it, but with a whole society" and now I can't stop thinking about it. #meme
https://arstechnica.com/cars/2026/05/inside-toyotas-10b-private-utopia-big-ideas-few-people-cameras-everywhere/ Another new city that takes 'build it like a computer' to mean spy on everything, and change nothing else. I do like that there is a purely pedestrian level in one picture though it doesn't seem to connect to anything, and that there is some effort to remove cars from the city center, and that there is an effort at 3rd space. #urban
@primawesome My ability to dissociate has become too powerful. Now I'm just watching the fall of America like "hmm yeah that happens to empires" while I look for dog hats on Amazon. #meme
Naked Gun: It's ok, and I appreciate it for putting some effort in. #tv
Successfully repaired an extractor fan. I'm on a roll. Also had another headache last night. #hometime #medical
Endless Things A Part of Ægypt by John Crowley: Mentions in the author note at the very end that it is the 4th book in a series. This is why it is impossible to read SF any more. Though it would be hard to say what in there is an event that might have happened in relation to a previous book. #book
Finally got the Perigale barrel. Really need to stop for a while. My carpals hurt. #warframe
They cut down yet more large old trees. One was by the entrance to the baseball area. People drove on its roots to avoid the speed bumps, making its death just more disrespect. I want to move so much. #complaining
Zootopia 2: speaking of snakes. The usual assortment of cute details, institutional apartheid. They would very much like you to know the fox and rabbit are not doing it, but you should be thinking about it. Also, "Catrick". #tv
Successfully did some home repair, snaked out the tub drain after the neighbor's bath water and pipe gunk came up. The last time, I didn't have the hand strength or stamina to do that. This time, the snake shot right in there, came out with 2 hair balls and the tub drained vigorously. I'm still standing, although my legs started shaking. #hometime #medical
Anime Spring 2026 First Episode Review: I've often used Portuguese as the reason Crunchyroll's notification system is broken. (Because who'd want to know there's a new foreign language version, a week/month/year later than the initial release, if you don't speak that language, and yet, there's no way to turn it off. The same is true in reverse.) At least 2 of these got a Brazilian Portuguese dub before getting an English sub, so maybe I'm wrong, the whole point of Crunchyroll is to produce Portuguese anime. (I wouldn't mind moving to Portugal.)
  • The Food Diary of Miss Maid: food show, plus maid
  • Agents of the Four Seasons Dance of Spring: nice enough, but Spring is incredibly annoying.
  • Always a Catch!: cute, but fantasy politics. Does she have brass knuckles as a hair ornament?
  • * Dorohedoro: It's new to CR, so I could review it again: it's great. I may watch the first season again. The pillow is never not funny.
  • Haibara's Teenage New Game+: Basically isekai, and being nostalgic about 2014 is annoying
  • Killed Again, Mr. Detective: Neuro still best immortal detective
  • + Snowball Earth: First episode is entirely setup, but moving in a positive direction.
  • Mistress Kanan is Devilishly Easy: not good, but pervy enough to be interesting.
  • - Kusunoki's Garden of Gods: Genial fluff. My handwriting summons evil spirits.
  • - Needy Girl Overdose: I thought it was more idol nonsense, but then it went completely insane.
  • * Daemons of the Shadow Realm: That's a ride.
  • GHOST CONCERT: idol nonsense, but I like the scifi. CR puts the skip credits button on the big musical numbers, though.
  • LIAR GAME: Making the protagonist a moron is a novel choice, at least.
  • + Witch Hat Atelier: A slow but solid start. I know it has rabid fans.
  • The Klutzy Class Monitor and the Girl with the Short Skirt: genially stupid
  • Eren the Southpaw: high drama people
  • Even a Replica Can Fall in Love: I had my replica to watch this. (Pretty sure she's crazy)
  • * MARRIAGETOXIN: I lolled
  • I Made Friends with the Second Prettiest Girl in My Class: bleh
  • Pardon the Intrusion, I'm Home!: problematic relationships
  • - My Ribdiculous Reincarnation: Maybe a little too dense Japanese puns to be comprehensible, but I'll watch it.
  • THE WARRIOR PRINCESS AND THE BARBARIC KING: Not that Warrior Princess. Basically "Torture", but semi-serious.
  • Kujima: Why Sing, When You Can Warble?: I'm boycotting Russian birds (My Russian fox hasn't posted in 3 months)
  • A Hundred Scenes of AWAJIMA: all vibe
  • The Drops of God: drunken yaoi
  • Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk: drunken yuri
  • Kill Blue: zany concept, but very serious execution

Voruna does ridiculous damage. The Raksa kubro helps with the survivability, and I could add more shields, but I'd have to take out something. I added a toxin-health shard, but I may change that out. Condition Overload is also a beast with all the statuses. I've been using the frozen arcane instead of the stealth one. The stealth might be easier, but I have very little str to start with. 250% range, though. Still have not even seen a p10. I tried The Guilty, but despite having the same build as a speedrunner, I can't even survive it. #warframe
The Fox 2022: autism support fox. Does not end horribly, as fox stories are prone to do. I don't think the foxes got a credit, though it's in German, so it was hard to tell. #tv
Got a bit of luck with the Voruna parts, only need 1 for V and P. (Probably shouldn't use those initials.) I don't see that you can buy the Tails Prime separately (yet). Already leveled Saurofang twice with Follie. Follie is a nice endless frame, able to control a door and occasionally deliver massive damage or buffs. I can't see the ink on the ground though. (My Follie is a red, white, and blue clown bleeding red ink.) In one last push, got the second Follie bp and the atrementum to buy the minimum amount of stuff. Also leveled the stug and destreza for the next incarnons. I sold the destreza prime at some point. It is kind of useless. I really need to take a break for my carpals. #warframe
Anime Winter 2026 Review:
  • To Your Eternity: Fushi goes crazy, learns nothing. Has a nice end, but for everyone else. Also an after credits teaser.
  • Fire Force: Does actually tie all the random weirdness together, and ends well.
  • Frieren: somehow has people complaining it doesn't do anything, and also it has too many fight scenes. Can't please everybody.
  • Invisible Man's Soon To Be Wife: immigrant cat-girl is best girl. Modern without being Netflix modern.
  • Roll Over and Die: I love the story, but sometimes the writing and the animation are not great.
  • Sentenced to be a Hero: I love the story, and sometimes the animation is lavish.
  • The Adventurer's Daily Grind at 29: genial genre filler. Spoilers- The girl is a succubus. They do nothing with that, but still, why.
  • The Casebook of Arne: best moment was when they killed somebody from the opening credits who was never scene again. Shambles corpse-like after that.
  • Yoroi-Shinden Samurai Troopers: "Nasti"? The end could have been more of a big musical number
  • Tis Time For "Torture", Princess: still absolutely deranged.
  • Hell's Paradise: more Tao fighting and gore
  • Kaya-chan isn't Scary: Kaya-chan is scary as hell. Do not let children watch this.
  • You and I are Polar Opposites: as much as I love that the main couple can talk, they then introduce 2 sets of friends who can't, so there's that.
  • Journal with Witch: Still no witches, but lovely. Highly recommend.
  • A Misanthrope Teaches a Class of Demi-humans: meh. Many of the girls are very irritating, but they all have little backstories.
  • Dead Account: fighting anime + internet. I appreciated the references, but not a lot of substance.
  • Scum of the Brave: looks like a kids show, is extremely graphic. Mostly fights.
  • Champignon Witch: incredibly moist, hated all the characters, the world-building.
  • SHIBOYUGI: style over substance. I think the girls are all disposable replicants, or something, because they get picked up by somebody who looks like an older version of the girl and is probably the real person. This is probably reading way too much into it.
  • Hana-Kimi: commits to its lunatic premise. Everybody knows who she is, nobody mentions it to the one guy who doesn't.
  • GNOSIA: I really liked this. I think the after the finale bit went a little off the rails, because none of that seemed supported, but I guess it wanted the happy ending. Never explains the deal with the gnosia.
  • Golden Kamui: Didn't actually end yet.

With Ubuntu now officially requiring more RAM than Windows 11, I could point out that Haiku may yet find a purpose as the OS you install on e-waste, given that anything is better than the 90's era hardware it was designed for. Somebody recently added 2D GPU support back into X11. Guess who never stopped supporting junk! Given that Wayland has gotten better, and Haiku has not so much, I don't think it is viable as a GUI for the Year of Linux on the Desktop. #haiku
Tasmania GHH tiny house, full commercial greenhouse. Code required the inside house be weather proof. Open shower in the middle, outhouse. All the furniture is on wheels! #shacklife
There's only so much Follie I can take in a row, so I don't have that, but I do have the new weapons. I've seen people not like the Ghoul Saw, and I didn't like it when I leveled it, but it really requires the combos. And here's where it gets confusing, not the combo counter combos, the other ones. It benefits a slower frame, grouping abilities, and has distinct modes for groups of scrubs, groups of eximus, and tough enemies. I also like that the stealth takedown is planting a circular saw into somebody's spine, then spraying blood all over. The Bubonico is slightly annoying because the regular version changes sound based on ammo counter. This makes a lot of noises, seemingly unrelated to anything. The Quanta is a decent weapon for its high precision at range, but the alt mode requires infested willing to run into it. You can run through groups, spraying cubes, then detonate it, but Lavos does that but easier. I tried the 350% headshot mod, but it seemed worse. Looking forward to Voruna, and Tails Prime #warframe
Leftist Gamer Memes "People are having less kids because mammals don't want to breed in captivity." "A nation that can instantly fund war but debates funding healthcare has a values problem, not a budget problem." #meme
Warframe Shadowgrapher: The visual effects kill my framerate, which I am aware is my fault for not upgrading during the few months in 2025 when this would have been viable. The new game mode is a lot of walking as operator, mostly in the void which totally bypasses everything. I did wish the grineer could drop more, different traps, so good job there, but I'd also like it if it wasn't all black mucus. Maybe no frame at all inside? Tighter runs for solos? (I'd imagine they were going for an escort mission where the team defends the ink runner and finds the next art/ink, but as a solo and geared operator, that does nothing for me.) I like that you can extract with 20 whatevers or 80 if you put some effort into finding and popping the ballons. (at least 1200?) It does not seem like an enduring game mode. The QoL things are all nice. I haven't gotten to the new weapons yet. #warframe
Termination Shock by Neal Stephenson: interminable rich people wanking, then a quick visit to a completed Neom The Line in a hydrogen powered jet. I guess that's what NS is into now that he has bitcoin money. He's also now saying the metaverse is dumb because nobody wants to wear goggles. I think making it a business is dumb. VRChat or 2nd Life is ok. #book

Despite my efforts to avoid Liquid Ass, Safari now has animations on the favicon/close button. They are inconsistent in length, and stutter. And it brightens the colors, just to make it more noticeable. (Did no one at all look at it in dark mode? This is the sort of question liquid glass engenders.) Prefers reduced motion does nothing. #mac
Crunchyroll changed the UI to something more like bits and pieces of other UIs, at the expense of its own. They did add a speed control right where the full screen was, but it only does .5 and .75. I guess that's good for people who can't read that fast, but a lot of anime isn't really good enough to not watch at 2x. Youtube goes up to 3x if you pay. Piracy, of course, will let you do what you want. #anime
https://www.retrophisch.net/2026/03/05/tahoe-update-begone/ I let it reinstall 15.7.5, but now it's back on its bullshit and asking to reinstall 15.7.5 again. I got a Safari update that is noticeably worse with the animation in the tabs. #mac
Quick Connections with Alie Ward: trying to rip off Connections, successfully if much shorter, but as with the new series, too much reality tv editing and big tech hype. #tv

Got the Grandis XX Perigone (or whatever) in 2 elite runs, 5 total. Khora can do the full Persistance with 3 armor shards and the cat in heal mode, and the Burstron is insane with the fire rate and crit damage from both(?) pets. Even the normal mode is a continuous torrent of blue/orange 5 digit numbers. (I probably should have turned off the damage numbers. It's impossible to see anything.) For the Elite run, I did replace the melee with an Exec, and uncheck all the mods just to make it easier. I got 3 reasonable but not great pix from the setup run, and I got lucky with the "all enemies are techrot"/"Scaldra call in artillery" on the second one. (Also, ignore everything but popping the white spore zits on the survival. I think I got lucky the second time with all them being on top of each other in the same tile, or very unlucky the first time.) I really should do a full run, but I like my naughty hands more anyway. And I should probably do that weekly, as it does return quite a lot of stuff (if you get through it), but I like the stress level less than the netracells which have given me 100 shards of each color. Now to let my carpals rest before Folie. #warframe

AETNA CVS HLTH gave me a dollar. I assumed it was because they just having regrets after our break-up and wanted me to think about them fondly, maybe do a little pining, but I had the thought that they sold all my account info to somebody who was checking that the bank account was still valid. If somebody drains my checking account, it was them. #complaining
Now that I got over the Apex tank hump, I have only 2 Grandia remaining. (I said the other ones were much easier.) I have to wait because I didn't think ahead to leave up a Coda and a temporal archimedia. The temporal one might be hard, because I've never been in there and have no peely pix buffs. Also, I have to first unlock the elite mode, which requires using the provided frames and weapons. It would be great to get a carry for that. #warframe
Tom Homan is a bitch: “I’d be happy to sit down and explain to him what he’s missing,” Homan said, suggesting the pope doesn’t understand the realities on the border. The wiki says the mucuspires have ranged attacks, and are the only thing that dispels or magnetizes in that phase. I didn't think they had range, and just was about not standing in the mucus, like the gas things in phase 1. That was the info I needed. As practice, I sliced a normal mode tank in half, took 1.5 bars off its health with a single slam from a Tenet Exec. #warframe
Is it just me or are search engines noticeably worse? And I don't mean the good old days, I mean like compared to last year, and all of them. I'm not getting any results at all for specific technical queries. I signed up for Kagi to test it, and while it did at least eventually return some results, and I did get an answer (sort of, use gamescope (or steam) to basically just don't do that, run everything inside the game to never minimize the game), the whole experience is giving 'fall of Rome' vibes. Old man yells at the cloud. #complaining
I tried Proton 10, but the mouse triggered the hot-corners. Warframe still can not recover from being minimized. I could turn the hot corners off because I don't use the machine for anything else, but every time I switch protons, the keymaps get messed up. It discourages experimentation, and the minimized thing is the only thing I hoped to fix.
It's cheaper to buy a much newer graphics card, even though I can't get full use out of it. AM4 chips haven't gone up that much. Still not buying anything though. I remapped the middle mouse button to a key, which works pretty well.
I got the frame related honoria, and a second Citrine and Koumei for Goopy. All the pretty flowers grow in my garden. I got all the Onlyne floofs, even the techrot versions. I have a shrine in my Floof Room. Still haven't tried to do the Apex boss again, and I need a ton of ferrite for that honoria and in general, because I was doing a lot of ciphers and bought something for the dojo. #warframe
Good news, everyone. Mac OS Swift UI now responds to page down. Only ever in the side bar, not the content, but still, better than just beeping. #mac
Sugar: well, that was unexpected. Jack Wellborn on the Incomparable discord said it had "Cowboy Bebop" vibes, which sounds crazy given the spoiler-free summary, but, yeah, I can see that, especially that one episode. #tv

My combat spec Titania died in the air, so I built the most immortal Inaros ever, still died on the tank because I can't see anything over all the effects and minimal frame rate. The tank is blocking the Master's Call and possibly also persistance, so while I can survive on the Furis' and Sancti Masgistar's lifesteal, that is one of my defenses neutralized. I can just wade through the SP up to the boss, but the ads seem to have yet more damage reduction. (or the engine is struggling with the amount of crap going on. I saw a 31 billion gas proc on group of techrot, killed nothing. Didn't even seem to do anything at all) It's so frustrating. (and now I can't do the SP perita bosses. Just dumping damage into the warframe bosses, even when I could melt the other 2 two days ago.) I didn't even want to do the hardmode bosses, but I see videos that make it look so easy. Tip: you can bring the atomicycle into the boss room, invis the first set of weakpoints. You might be able to do the second set, but I don't have the bandwidth to find it again. #warframe

https://arstechnica.com/features/2026/02/so-yeah-i-vibe-coded-a-log-colorizer-and-i-feel-good-about-it/ A good look at AI coding. The user has a normal problem (a caching issue), a common request (a program that does exactly what they want), but AI immediately goes off the rails for "I don't know what language we should use. I would like to prioritize efficiency and performance in the code" and it suggests Python. They are running WordPress so PHP is right there. (It's surprisingly performant.) It does complete the task, but eventually goes off the rails in ways that somebody who actually knows anything would have prevented. Suggestion: a syntax file for bat? I don't know what's in those, but surely the AI does, and once you've specified the coloring, you don't have to worry about anything else. #news

I was just reading that e-bikes are gaining in popularity with the Amish (though perhaps they meant Mennonite?) and now there's news that NJ is requiring a license and registration and insurance for e-bikes. Just another way that the poor can't use the solar abundance. Speaking of which, Aptera's stock price has fallen hard. There was the usual pre-market dumping [it was not the usual. somebody dumped a million shares, possibly short sellers who succeeded in driving the price down.], but no new news, and even the after-the-fact news shouldn't have dropped the value of the company by 75%. Back in the real world, the border patrol is using children as bait. I want to be a tree person. (There are articles from 2014 about Border Patrol deliberately stepping in front of moving vehicles, to justify shooting the occupants. It might be interesting to see how many shootings have involved the phrase "weaponized the vehicle". Or do they even bother to file reports if it isn't filmed, or if the victim isn't white?) #news #2026-01-23

Anime Winter 2026 First Episode review:
  • Tamon's B-side: idol nonsense
  • Jack of all trades, Party of none: not an isekai, but a weakest is the strongest, which is almost as overdone and I've never seen a good one. I do have some sympathy for it as an Enhancement Shaman.
  • * Sentenced to be a Hero: Now there's a new concept. Was an hour long, which came as a surprise. Terrific animation, so good that with the length I assumed it was a movie, but it seems there's more.
  • Kunon the Sorcerer Can See: harem wish fulfillment, except he's blind (and still perfect in every way)
  • - Hana-Kimi: The opening bit smelled like harem, but is more drama over its lunatic premise.
  • * Journal with witch: Does not contain witches, but very heartfelt. Love the eyes.
  • The Daily Life of a Part-Time Torturer: author's thinly disguised fetish, not funny. There's more "'Tis Time for Torture" this season, too.
  • Wash It All Away: author's thinly disguised fetish?
  • We Want to be in a Rom-com with Our Childhood Friends: author's undisguised fetish
  • Yoroi-Shinden Samurai Troopers: The original predates me but it seems simple enough to catch up.
  • - The Casebook of Arne: Surprise ending. Not much of a mystery, but bloody
  • The Demon King's Daughter is too Kind!!: Cute, but the names bug me. Jahi should have a T-shirt, and the less said about Doo the better.
  • Tune In to the Midnight Heart: Tonight, we're playing Shouty Boy and the Harem to all the perverts out there
  • There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero's Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her: Problematic relationship becomes less problematic. A notable improvement. OTOH, secret isekai.
  • Isekai Office Worker: I only watched it to see how gay it is. Answer: not nearly enough, but the first episode is entirely setup.
  • A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation: There's the gay. Assless not enough? Go to frontless chaps. I do like the concept of "Isekai'd? Shit, I'm out."
  • - AN ADVENTURER'S DAILY GRIND AT AGE 29: made me snort twice, twist ending
  • - Champignon Witch: Spores. kind of slow, but nice open
  • Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord: pro-slavery isekai
  • * ROLL OVER AND DIE: I Will Fight for an Ordinary Life with My Love and Cursed Sword!: The writing is a bit weak, and while gory, I think they could have, wait for it, milked it more. I'm not sure if internalized censorship or just cheap.
  • Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table: visually different, oddly bloodless. Possibly some sort of pro-torture, pro-slavery right-wing thing. The only Squid Game rip-off I'm interested in involves Ika Musume.
  • The Holy Grail of Eris: fantasy politics
  • The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife: genial. Nice little touches, but slow
  • DARK MOON: harem, not exactly subtle.
  • - Scum of the Brave: seemed for kids, then gooped that guy
  • - Dead Account: terminally online (get it?) The intro was a nice little story.
  • - A Misanthrope Teaches a Class for Demi-Humans: animal-eared girl show, and that's about it. Still going to watch it, obviously.
  • - You and I Are Polar Opposites: too much angst, but then the characters communicate and resolve everything in a minute. Imagine that! The art is also appealing.
  • Oedo Fire Slayer -The Legend of Phoenix-: The cgi is marginally better, except for the tiny head people.
  • In the Clear Moonlit Dusk: Not sure if actually gay but hiding it.
  • - Kaya-chan Isn't Scary: Goth Anya. Good enough for me.
  • Trigun Stargaze: Milly? Didn't finish the last show, but according to the recap, it set up this season to be the same as the original, thus making this a remake, maybe. Also not sure if they are just naming seasons of the same show.
With many good returning shows, almost a problematic number of shows. #anime
The XX99 dating end seems a little more involved, though I like them less than the Hex, who seemed more real. With the loot room plus a resource bonus, I bought all the remaining arcanes and the blueprint. My spare Uriel is cooking. Still have some 275 of each remaining on Perita, but no hurry. #warframe
I think Verizon got embarrassed about how my fios is too slow for any of their own fios products, and has been trying to get me to upgrade, but changing to 300 Mbps ("$10 more") increases the bill by $80, almost doubling the price. The website is still incredibly slow, so clicking any option is a multi-second pause. There's still no option to get rid of the phone line. There's no way to opt-in to text notifications, but I also can't not get text notifications. My router is too old to have secure WiFi, too, but only the phone needs it, and all it does is messages. I'm definitely not renting a router, which they would like me to do. #complaining
I looked up prices on video cards. The one I have is over $200, new. I think that's more than I paid for it, and it's a decade old. The one I wanted is now 3 times that. The last Warframe update is kind of painful. I could just play less for a while, even though I really like what they tried to do with Perita feeling like a huge battlefield. It's just 20 fps even on low, and about the same with my custom settings, with which I must have done a good job if it looks nicer but doesn't do worse. I did Janus Vor with Titania set to max defense, and I read that you can shoot the orb the ball lightning comes out of, thus removing the chase mechanic entirely. The defense probably wasn't necessary at that point, could have done it faster. I still have to do the rest of tenens hard mode bosses, which I feel are way harder the next set. I did the next one when it came out, though, and have been using the naughty hands hood ornament this whole time, and not looking forward to doing it again. Could try Titania again. I used Octavia the last time. Invis until the boss reflects itself. I saw a video about using ivara's stealth subsume on your companion to stay invis. I don't enjoy the hardmode stuff, though. #warframe
"Apple's iOS 26 appears to be witnessing the slowest adoption rate in recent memory, with third-party analytics from StatCounter indicating that only 15 to 16% of active iPhones worldwide are running the operating system nearly four months after its September release. The figures stand in stark contrast to iOS 18, which had reached approximately 63% adoption by January 2025, and iOS 17, which hit 54% by January 2024." https://www.macrumors.com/2026/01/08/ios-26-shows-unusually-slow-adoption/ And how many of those were people who knew what they were getting into? #apple #lol

I tried Titania for Vor, but while I can now not have to stand on anything, I still die at random because with all the lightning effects, I have 10 FPS and I still can't see what kills me. Titania absolutely excels at the Perita bosses and getting to objectives, though. #warframe
Tried Janus Vor for the tenens honoria, but I can't even see what the last phase is doing. Noko/huras is great on that first and second phase, but then I get demolished by a lightning strike, or something. [I think it is the seeking ball lightning, hitting me from the side. My frame rate gets so bad now. Or is 60 at random.]
In related news, because DDR5 memory is so expensive, the AM4 chips are skyrocketing in popularity. So much for my upgrade. Still waiting for a power upgrade like ARM. #warframe
This year's theme celebrates Liquid Glass for Haiku-OS. That's sarcasm, though it doesn't actually look as bad as I wanted it to. (I can't be as bad as Dye on purpose?) It does pointlessly use up system resources, but it could use a sidebar, more squircles, slower animations, and much less contrast. I have yet to upgrade anything, but there are constant reminders, and unpatched active exploits. The CSS is formatted in the new SASS style, purely to be difficult. As a BEM fan, I approve.
In related news, the KDE theme also has an issue where the excessive UI can overlap content. I can't tell which Discord has new content because the dot is under the border. Other than that, the theme is Glass without the Liquid, with better quality of life. Along with Gnome being more mobile-ready than (I forgot the name already, the combined Mac/i OS UI thing.), it's not great that other people can be more Apple than Apple. #haiku #apple #yolotd
2026 is not off to a great start: Stewart Cheifet of Computer Chronicles died. He was a big part of my early computer learning. In other less bummer news, Aptera is (very) slowly moving into production, and Telo is also making progress. Related, my life remains in a holding pattern as I still don't have a car or a shack. I'm considering land farther south. (Or Tuscon, heard nice things) Yes, the heat will be much worse, but summer heat during the day is when the solar power is the highest, so it is actually better use of green power than winter night cold. I still need an aged hippy to drop something in my lap because I can't go out to research areas without a car.
My health remains adequate. I'm still getting headaches. They are much less bad than the spike in the brain headaches that might have been caused by chocolate, but it's not great. Vision? Sinus? Both seem related, and I've seen doctors for both, but I can't fix the headache by addressing either. Other food issues? I'm too scrawny to do cleanses or month-long fasts. The 2 bottles of Co-enzyme Q10 at 200mg didn't fix my mitochondria, but it does provide more energy, a few hours after taking it. I saved up the last few pills for Christmas parties, and I think it helped me not collapse. I have no stamina, the brain fog is still there, but I can operate within my limits, and my financial needs are met, assuming the president or AI doesn't destroy the economy just enough that my stocks are worthless, but not so much so that money is worthless. (In which case, I plan to be a shaman/scientist for the local warlord.) #shacklife
